Silicon Carbide Tubes and Beams
Silicon Carbide Tubes and Beams as used as components in Kiln Car Builds. They are suitable for applications involving higher temperatures and loads than Cordierite Tubes would manage.
- Available in a range of custom sizes and shapes
- Excellent at resisting warping, even in challenging environments
General Overview
Silicon Carbide Tubes and Beams are a fundamental part of kiln cars. Typically, they are used as horizontal supports on which batts and other items are rested.
Silicon Carbide Tubes and Beams are often used for applications involving higher temperatures (over 1300 °C) or heavy loads. The ceramic tubes are very good at staying straight over extended use in applications where other materials might bend.
IPS Ceramics offer silicon infiltrated silicon carbide (SiSiC) as standard for beams used in kiln-car structures. The material is very strong compared to other ceramics and typically gives several years of service in industrial processes. Other grades of silicon carbide are available for more demanding conditions. We have a full range of cross sections/diameters and wall thicknesses available in SiSiC, NSiC and RSiC and can manufacture lengths up to 3000mm.
